Haseltine Lake had an exhibition stand at the recent UKSPA 25th anniversary international conference. Copies of Haseltine Lake’s Guide “Getting The Most Out Of Your Intellectual Property-An IP Review Pack for Businesses” (commissioned by UKSPA) were available on the stand for conference delegates.
In April 2009 Haseltine Lake was commissioned by UKSPA to produce this Best Practice Guide for all Science Parks throughout the UK. There has been strong interest in the Guide with more than 300 tenants requesting copies since its launch. Haseltine Lake Chief Executive, Lesley Evans believes this interest is indicative of the growing awareness of the importance of IP in knowledge-based businesses.
During the conference Lesley chaired a workshop about creating a supportive environment for research, innovation and economic growth. Awareness of IP rights is an essential part of creating a supportive environment for innovation. Lesley warns that protecting and managing of IP rights is still patchy, particularly in the SME sector, “we hope that the UKSPA Best Practice Guide will get businesses thinking and talking about IP and developing IP strategies”.
HL will be delivering a series of IP workshops using the Best Practice Guide at Science Parks throughout the UK.
