Government initiative offers funding to UK businesses for IP Audits

The Technology Strategy Board is a government funded innovation agency established to accelerate economic growth by stimulating and supporting business-led innovation. Through a series of collaborative initiatives and public Competitions the Board invests in the development of new technology-based products and services for future markets.

For those UK-based Companies that have been successful in Technology Standard Board Competitions there is now an opportunity to receive additional funding towards the cost of an Intellectual Property (“IP”) audit. The aim of the audit is to ensure that potential intellectual assets are identified at an early stage of the project and appropriately protected and managed. The outcome of the audit, which will be conducted by a professional IP adviser such as a patent or trademark attorney, will be a tailored report setting out clear recommendations on how to leverage value out of the IP and how to manage IP within the project. The report will include a review of relevant Patent, Trademark, Design, Copyright and Software issues as well as a section on Confidentiality and Non-disclosure provisions, Licensing and Collaboration Agreements and IP Management and control systems.
