How much do you or others in your practice know about the European Patent Office (EPO) Oppositions procedure? Research among our correspondent firms in the US and Canada shows relatively low awareness of this procedure. And yet it can be used by your clients to attack their competitors’ patents in Europe, or used by those competitors to strike at your clients’ patents. Either way it can have a very significant impact on your clients’ international IP strategies.
In response to increasing interest in the EPO Oppositions Procedure, Haseltine Lake is hosting a one day seminar in Munich to explain the benefits and risks of Oppositions with particular reference to their potential impact on US patent prosecution and infringement litigation. The seminar will be held in a hearing room at the European Patent Office and will culminate in a mock hearing to give a real insight into the practical and procedural issues.
