With an engineering degree specialising in electrical and electronic engineering, David joined Haseltine Lake as a trainee in 1985. He has wide experience of patent filing and prosecution for inventions relating to computer hardware and software, and communications technology, more specifically fixed and mobile telephony, wireless transmission/reception, ultra wideband wireless communication, optoelectronic devices, bioinformatics and semiconductor devices. David has a specific interest in developing IP strategies for start up companies.

David's clients include multinational corporations, international hardware manufacturers, start-up companies and university research exploitation organisations.

David is a regular visitor to Japan and the USA and is learning Japanese. A number of his major clients are based in the US state of California where he regularly visits, supporting client and business relationships.
