David's experience includes substantial amounts of biotech and medical chemistry, as well as the technology of petroleum and industrial minerals. Biotech specialisms include immunology and recombinant vaccines. Medical specialisms include medical apparatus, liposome drug and DNA delivery systems, plant-derived and general pharmaceuticals, as well as hydrogel skin adhesives. Industrial minerals specialisms include kaolin clay processing and applications. David has many years of experience in Oral Proceedings (Hearings) at the European Patent Office, including parallel opposition and litigation proceedings. In addition, David also has broad experience of UK and EU (Community) trade mark registration, agreement and enforcement (anti-counterfeiting) matters, primarily in the fields of sports merchandising and pharmaceuticals.

David has a diverse range of UK and overseas clients in these areas, with work areas including patent drafting and prosecution in the UK and European Patent Offices, opposition and litigation, provision of opinions on infringement and validity and related legal issues, licensing, and surveillance.

A member the International Trade Mark Association (INTA), David is a frequent visitor to China, Japan and the USA, in particular developing client relationships in these countries.
