Jane More O'Ferrall - Partner
UK and European Trade Mark Attorney
BA Social and Political Science

"Rather than a favourite trade mark, I chose a favourite quote from a trade mark court decision: 'only a moron in a hurry would be confused'. Decisions of British judges tend to be robust and can make entertaining reading. I wish ECJ decisions were more like this! "
Jane practices exclusively in the field of trade marks. She advises across a range of UK and European corporate identity issues, including clearance of new brands, enforcement advice, domain name conflicts, and dispute negotiation and resolution. She has considerable experience of contentious proceedings and appeals before the Community Trade Marks Office (OHIM).
Her clients include Fortune 500 and FTSE 100 companies from industry sectors such as foodstuffs, engineering, medical equipment, household and personal care products, and petrochemicals. She also works for local businesses including a prominent animations company.
Jane worked on the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (ITMA) committee which established the Continuing Professional Development scheme with which UK trade mark attorneys must now comply. She served for two years on ITMA Council, and has involvement with educational activities for ITMA including organising CPD meetings in the West Country and tutoring final examination candidates. Jane is a proficient French speaker and a frequent visitor to the USA where she develops client and business relationships.
