Matt is a qualified Patent and Trade Mark Attorney in Australia, and is also qualified as a Patent Attorney in New Zealand. He joined Haseltine Lake in 2009 having previously spent over four years with one of Australia’s leading patent and trade mark attorney practices.

Matt has experience acting for clients in a range of technical fields including medical devices, security systems, locks and related architectural hardware, control software and systems for un-manned vehicle guidance and navigation, and a range of other mechanical and electromechanical technologies. He has regularly acted for clients in relation to the processing of patent applications and the management of patent portfolios throughout the world, and has often also advised in relation to commercial matters such as IP sale and licensing, associated due diligence and documentation recordation, and infringement disputes and other contentious matters.

Matt is used to dealing with clients of all sizes ranging from start up businesses and SMEs to large corporations and multi-nationals. As a result he understands how client’s needs vary according to the size and nature of their business, and how this affects the way in which they can best leverage value from their IP.
