Haseltine Lake around the world series 4

26 October 2015

October has been a busy month for our attorneys, with many events and meetings held in the USA and Canada.

The month began with Laura Solcia, a Patent Administrator attending the Intellectual Property Administrator Group (IPAG), held on the 1st and 2nd of October at the Lancaster London Hotel. Delegates heard from a range of high profile speakers discussing interesting topics such as “Patent formalities” in USA, China and India, and “Foreign Law: USA, China and India”

Soni Basra – a patent attorney specialising in the pharmaceutical industry, and based in our Munich office – attended the leading global pharmaceutical expo, CPhI Worldwide 2015, which saw more than 36,000 pharma industry professionals from 140+ countries attend the two day event in Madrid.

Later in the month, Liz travelled to Canada with James Hutchison – an Associate in the Electronics and Communications team. The duo attended the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada’s Conference, held in Alberta, where they flew the flag for the UK and strengthened their contacts in Canada.

Simon Rees and Jonathan McCartney, Partners from our Energy, Environmental and Engineering team, headed to Washington DC to attend the American Intellectual Property Law Association Annual meeting. Joining over 2,000 delegates from the Intellectual Property industry, Simon and Jonathan heard from esteemed speakers such as the Honourable Alan Lourie, from the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the Honourable Maria Pallante, from the United States Register of Copyrights, during the four day event.

Simon, along with Alex Rogers – Partner from the Chemistry and Life Sciences team – then travelled to Chicago for client visitations and to attend the Intellectual Property Owners Conference. The conference covered a range of pertinent topics, such as best practice in patent litigation and IP issues in the digital age, all of which strengthened the team’s knowledge of current IP issues in the States.

David Brown, Isobel Finney and Denis Canet from Haseltine Lake‘s Chemistry and Life Sciences team have also visited the USA this month, meeting new and existing clients in Boston, St Louis and Kansas City, predominantly in the bio-tech and chemistry fields.
