16 January 2017

While we all enjoyed putting our feet up over the Christmas break, January has come around quickly, and the team at Haseltine Lake is now back into the swing of things once more! For Haseltine Lake that means plenty of travel and exciting events for the attorneys, so let’s see where they have been so far…

Simon Rees and Daniel Chew recently travelled to Taipei, Taiwan to visit clients and a number of Taiwanese high-tech companies. Daniel then flew onto Shanghai where he started his visit with a speaking engagement at the Jiaxing Science and Technology Market, highlighting the important steps to take before launching products into Europe as well as the potential effects of Brexit on IP in Europe. The conference was jointly organised by the Jiaxing Science and Technology Bureau and the Zhejiang IP Agency Association.

Whilst in Shanghai, Daniel also attended the IPBC Asia conference, where he met with leading IP investors, chief IP officers and the head of intellectual propertyShanghai skyline from major enterprises as well as leading IP investors. To round up his trip in China, Daniel was invited to speak at the “High level Forum on Foreign-related Intellectual Property Rights” – an IP event hosted by the Zhejiang IP Agency Association and the Hangzhou High-Tech Zone Intellectual Property Alliance in Hangzhou, China, on 7th December. Daniel’s presentation focused on how Chinese companies can introduce a product into Europe and what IP factors need to be considered. Over the same period, David Brown and (Ellie) Li Min also conducted client meetings, and visited Pharmaceutical and chemical companies in Beijing and Shanghai.
