Appointment of new China Partner lead

18 April 2016

Haseltine Lake announces the appointment of Daniel Chew as Partner lead for China and South East Asia.

Specialising in electronic patent matters with particular expertise in mobile and communications systems inventions, Daniel has been appointed as the lead Partner of Haseltine Lake's China group. He is a frequent visitor to Asia with a focus on clients in China, Taiwan and the wider South East Asia region, which has provided Daniel with strong insight into the working practices of the area.

Commenting on his appointment, Daniel says, “I am delighted to have joined Haseltine Lake and look forward to supporting and growing the firm’s work in the China and South East Asia region. It is a very forward thinking firm, having launched its Guangzhou office in 2008 – long before other European IP firms did. It is well-established, well-known and truly global, with many business opportunities with clients outside of Europe. I am passionate about highlighting the importance of IP protection in China for Western businesses and am keen to develop this further within Haseltine Lake.”

Lesley Evans, Chief Executive of Haseltine Lake, adds, “China is an important part of our growth strategy. We have been investing there for some years now and are seeing a good flow of work from both clients in Europe seeking protection for their IP in China and from clients in China looking to protect their IP as they enter new European markets.  Daniel understands the needs of both these client groups really well and has a clear strategic vision for how we can enhance and develop our service offering to them.”

Daniel is fluent in Mandarin, a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), the International Trade Mark Association (INTA) and is also a professional representative of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).
