Catherine joined the Chemistry and Life Sciences team at Haseltine Lake in 2011 and qualified as a UK and European Patent Attorney in 2014. In 2016, Catherine completed the Intellectual Property Litigation Certificate.

Catherine works with a wide range of clients including Universities, SMEs and larger multinational companies, and particularly has experience of drafting and prosecuting patent applications relating to biotechnology, therapeutics, diagnostic assays, industrial minerals and mineral-containing products. She also has experience of prosecuting families of patent applications overseas, including in the US, Japan and China. Catherine has also been involved in drafting and advising on oppositions and appeals and advising on freedom-to-operate and infringement issues. In 2015, Catherine completed a secondment at a multinational company enabling her to gain valuable in-house experience.

Catherine joined Haseltine Lake after obtaining a First Class Honours degree from the University of Durham and a Master's degree with Distinction from Imperial College London. Her degree studies provided her with a background in a broad range of organic and inorganic chemistry, molecular and cellular biology and biochemistry. During her Master's degree, Catherine completed a research project relating to the transcriptional regulation of genes involved in cardiac hypertrophy.
