Gemma joined Haseltine Lake LLP in 2003 after graduating from Oxford University with a Masters degree in Engineering Science. She qualified as a British Chartered Patent Attorney in 2007 and European Patent Attorney in 2008.

Gemma has worked extensively in the field of telecommunications, computer networking and Multimedia Systems. She has experience of patent drafting and prosecution relating to LTE, LTE-A and 5G systems, Network Management and Virtualisation, Optical Transport Networks, Internet of Things, Big Data and Machine Learning, IP Multimedia Subsystems and Digital Rights Management. 

Gemma has also worked across a range of electromechanical technology areas including biomechanical and medical engineering, composite materials, automotive and aeronautical components, and alternative energy. In addition to the preparation and prosecution of patent applications and opposition proceedings, Gemma has experience of conducting large scale freedom to operate analysis and patent validity assessment.

Gemma is a fluent French speaker and during her training, she completed a secondment at a multinational orthopaedics corporation in the USA, where she gained valuable in house experience.
